Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - An investigation is underway by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, after an officer involved shooting, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in Bonne Terre.
The incident involved a deputy with the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department. According to authorities, the shooting happened at the conclusion of a pursuit.

UPDATE (12:47 p.m.) The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the following statement:
At the request of the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating an officer involved shooting which occurred on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
The preliminary investigation revealed that at 2:19 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2024, a deputy with the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Old Orchard Road, in St. Francois County. The suspect failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. At the conclusion of the pursuit, the deputy reported their patrol car had been rammed by the suspect vehicle, that shots had been fired and the suspect had been struck by gunfire. Officers at the scene rendered first aid. Emergency medical services personnel responded to the scene and the suspect was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing by criminal investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control. Upon completion of the investigation, the reports will be forwarded to the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney for review.
