No Funding Increase Topic at MAC Meeting

(Park Hills, MO.) There is no increased funding for Missouri's Community Colleges in Governor Mike Parson's projected new fiscal budget for the state. The President of Mineral Area College, Dr. Joe Gilgour, says the issue was part of his report at today's MAC Board of Trustees meeting. Gilgour explains community colleges are traditionally under funded and that needs to change.

According to Gilgour 4 year college's also didn't receive any increase in this budget cycle. In other business at the meeting the first ever trivia contest coming to MAC was announced. It's a fundraiser for the MAC Foundation group. Trustees also got a report on homecoming and new Women's Basketball coach was hired to replace Coach Gary Koch. Assistant Coach Briley Palmer will fill the role of Head Coach.
