No Burn Ordinance Discussion

(Farmington, MO) A No Burn Ordinance is being looked at for St. Francois County after Tuesday's County Commission meeting. The issue was put before commissioners for their approval and the Director of Technology for St. Francois County, Nick Jones, says the ordinance would be in effect during times when the weather is not good for burning which would include dry, windy conditions.

According to Jones the announcement of the no burn ordinance, when it would go into effect over safety concerns, would be given through all media outlets, the county alert system, and the county 911 offices. The ordinance will go up for more discussion with commissioners before a vote is taken. Jones adds if you're getting ready to have a controlled burn, it's always a good idea to call your local fire department to see if it's safe.
