Law Enforcement Investigates Loud "Explosion" Heard in Fredericktown

Fredericktown, Mo. (KFMO) - Fredericktown authorities are investigating the source of a loud "explosion" heard Sunday night, November 10, according to the Fredericktown Fire Department.

The sound, which echoed through parts of Fredericktown shortly before 9:30 p.m., sparked immediate concern among residents. Many feared it could be related to the Critical Mineral Recovery lithium battery plant, which had previously caught fire on October 30, leading to evacuations north of town. However, the Fredericktown Fire Department has clarified that the noise did not come from that facility, which remains stable.

Law enforcement has been actively investigating the Holmes Subdivision area near Highway Z, where reports of the noise were particularly strong. As of now, officials have not identified the source of the sound, but they continue to monitor the situation closely. Residents with information are encouraged to contact local authorities.
