Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Issues Warning About Scam Calls

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Authorities in Jefferson County are warning residents about a phone scam in which callers pose as members of the Sheriff’s Office. The scammers falsely claim the recipient has an outstanding warrant and must pay fees immediately to avoid arrest.

The Sheriff's Office emphasizes that this is a scam. Law enforcement agencies do not contact individuals by phone to inform them of warrants or demand payment. Furthermore, payments for any legitimate fees are never collected through payment centers, gift cards, or wire transfers.

Residents are urged to ignore such calls and report them to local law enforcement. For additional information or to verify any suspicious claims, contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5000.
