Initiative Petition Measure Moves to Senate

(Jefferson City, MO) A measure designed to make it more difficult to change the Missouri constitution through initiative petition is headed to the Missouri Senate after House members passed the issue from Representative Mike Henderson. The State Representative for the 118th District, Mike McGirl, says current state law makes it too easy to change this important guiding document and Henderson's measure is just one moving through the legislature to address the problem.

McGirl also says currently petitioners are required to get signatures from 6 out of the 8 congressional districts in the state. According to McGirl Henderson's measure would require signatures from all of the districts.
