Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the Parkland

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Today, we join the nation in commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day, honoring the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader in the American civil rights movement. Celebrated annually on the third Monday of January, this federal holiday serves as a reminder of Dr. King's dedication to equality, nonviolence, and justice for all.

Many communities observe the day with service projects, educational programs, and special events that reflect Dr. King’s legacy.

It’s also a day to reflect on Dr. King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech, his leadership in the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and his role in advancing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

As a reminder, government offices, post offices, and many schools are closed today in observance. Some businesses may have modified hours, so it’s wise to check ahead.
