Desloge, Mo. (KFMO) - Officials with the City of Desloge and Aldi broke ground Wednesday afternoon for their new location coming soon.
A large crowd was in attendance during the ceremony, excited about the upcoming new store. Desloge Mayor Pete Pasternak said that a lot went into getting this project underway.
Pasternak said that this is a great opportunity to see Desloge start growing.
City Administrator Stephanie Daffron said that citizens have wanted a stand-alone grocery store for quite some time. She said that this gives the citizens another option, and adds to the growth of Desloge.
Daffron happily said that having Aldi coming into town, means everything to the citizens and surrounding area.
Patsy Weddle, with Professional Property Management explains how she helped make this project happen.
Weddle said that she, and her team, Denise Gallagher and Rayne Littlefield, were happy to help make this happen for the Desloge community.
Vice President of Aldi, Rob Jeffries said that Aldi has been looking to build in Desloge for a while now.
Jeffries explains this store will have a new look to it.
According to Jeffries, the new store will be about 22,000 square feet, with 12,000 square feet of sales space, and is one of the largest models. The new store is expected to open at the beginning of 2025.
