Four Vehicle Crash Leaves Two Injured

(Desloge, Mo) - A four vehicle crash on Highway 67 in St Francois County Tuesday afternoon has left at least two people recovering from injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 67 just north of the Desloge Exit near the Big River bridge at 2:20 pm.  Troopers say 86-year-old Bessie Thompson of Park Hills made an unsafe lane change, causing three other vehicles to attempt to miss her, and ended up in the median to avoid hitting her.

Two of the vehicles that swerved also got involved in a second crash when one of the vehicles rear ended the other as they were all coming to a rest in the median of the highway. Thompson was seriously injured and her passenger, 90-year-old Ervin Hamman of Desloge, was moderately injured.  Both were taken to Parkland South Hospital in Farmington for treatment.

None of the other drivers were injured in the crash, according to troopers.  Thompson was also not wearing a seat belt.

The others involved in the crash from the other three vehicles are: 60-year-old Dennis Haynes of Desoto, 48-year-old Russel Schroeder of De Pere, Wisconsin, and 38-year-old Sarah Jameson of Hillsboro.
