Firefighters Rescue Occupant in Farmington Mobile Home Blaze

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - Local firefighters braved intense flames Thursday evening to rescue a trapped occupant during a mobile home fire on Jacob Lane, in Farmington.

Crews from the Farmington Fire Department and Wolf Creek Fire Protection District arrived to find heavy fire pouring from the front door, living room windows, and deck of the single-wide mobile home. Firefighters quickly deployed a 1 ¾” hose line for an aggressive attack on the flames.

While extinguishing the fire, two crew members forced open the back door and located an occupant just inside. The individual was carried to safety, where life-saving measures were performed on the lawn before they were transported to Parkland Hospital and later flown to a St. Louis hospital. They remain in serious but stable condition.

The fire was brought under control in under 20 minutes and fully extinguished within an hour. Multiple agencies, including Park Hills, Leadington, Big River, and Doe Run fire departments, assisted with water supply, secondary searches, and overhaul. Explosions heard before firefighters arrived were determined to be small propane tanks on the front deck.

The Missouri Division of Fire Safety is investigating the cause of the fire. The St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department and 911 services also supported the incident response.

No other occupants were found inside the home.
