Entire Marble Hill Police Department Resigns, Bollinger County Sheriff's Office Steps In

Marble Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - On Monday, August 19, 2024, the Bollinger County Sheriff's Office was notified by City of Marble Hill officials that all members of the Marble Hill Police Department had submitted their resignations to the Marble Hill City Council. According to the information provided, these resignations will take effect on Friday, August 23, 2024.

The Bollinger County Sheriff's Office is currently in discussions with Marble Hill city officials to address the situation. Sheriff Casey Graham stated that the sheriff's office understands the concerns this may raise within the community and assured residents that they are committed to finding a viable solution. Sheriff Graham also expressed confidence that his agency can negotiate a resolution to ensure that law enforcement services will continue to be provided to the City of Marble Hill without interruption or interference in the daily operations currently in place.

Marble Hill's Police Chief Kristin Nenninger made a social media post explaining the department's decision.

Dear Citizens of Marble Hill:

I have tendered my resignation as Chief of Police. Effective August 23, 2024. It has been a great honor and privilege to serve you all.

This decision did not come easy as I take my service as Police Officer and First Responder very seriously. I cannot faithfully support my Officers and provide you, the citizens of Marble Hill, with law enforcement services you all deserve due to the city putting constraints on the budget and cutting into the Police budget.

For the same as I have already mentioned, Captain Gilliam has also tendered his resignation.

The other officers have also resigned on their own accord.

God Bless"

Graham says sheriff's office is focused on maintaining public safety and ensuring that the community continues to receive the necessary law enforcement coverage during this transition period.
