Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A single-vehicle crash on southbound I-55, north of Route A in Jefferson County, led to the arrest of a Festus man Thursday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Thomas J. Grippe was driving a 2010 Chrysler 300 southbound when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway, struck a highway sign, and overturned. The crash occurred at 9:37 a.m. Grippe, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by ambulance.
Following the crash, Grippe was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated (drugs) and possession of a controlled substance, specifically two grams of methamphetamine. He was held at Mercy Hospital before being released.
The vehicle sustained total damage and was towed from the scene.
