Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - Jeff Crites is officially assuming the role of St. Francois County Sheriff following a swearing in ceremony held this past Tuesday, December 31, 2024 as a part of the weekly St. Francois County Commission meeting.
Crites replaces Dan Bullock, who served as sheriff for over three decades but lost reelection in November.
The ceremony, presided over by Judge Pat King, took place in front of Crites’ family, friends, and supporters. Speaking after the event, Crites expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the county and acknowledged the foundation laid by Bullock during his tenure.
Crites says one of his first duties will be to get to know the employees who work for the department among other items including a focus on technology.
Bullock first became sheriff in 1992 and was one of the county’s longest serving law enforcement officials. His legacy includes significant advancements in local policing, which Crites aims to build upon in his term. He also has an extensive background in law enforcement, after working for the Farmington Police Department for over three decades.
Crites' priorities as sheriff include enhancing community safety, supporting law enforcement staff, and addressing the evolving challenges faced by St. Francois County.
