Burns Honored with Procession

(Desloge, MO) Parkland residents, police and fire department members, and emergency responders continue to honor fallen Bonne Terre Police Officer Lane Burns after a lengthy procession took his body from St. Francois County to Carthage Missouri for a special burial service Sunday. Hundreds of people lined the streets of Desloge, and Highway 8 into Washington County, to honor Burns with fire trucks and police cars at different towns along the route. Lane was killed Thursday, March 17th, in the early morning hours, as he and officer Garrett Worley answered a disturbance call at Bonne Terre's Motel 6. Worley was critically injured and has underwent surgery. The suspect, James Emery of St, Louis, was killed in the exchange of gunfire. The investigation is still underway.
