Donald Trump Sworn in as 47th President of the United States

Washington, D.C. (KFMO) - In a historic ceremony today, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, marking his return to the nation's highest office for a second, non-consecutive term. The inauguration was held indoors at the Capitol Rotunda, a decision made in response to dangerously low temperatures, making it the first indoor inauguration in 40 years.

Chief Justice John Roberts administered the presidential oath to Mr. Trump, who swore to "faithfully execute the office of president of the United States" and to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Vice President JD Vance was sworn in by Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The ceremony featured a rendition of "America the Beautiful" by acclaimed country singer Carrie Underwood, accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club.

The inauguration was attended by a host of dignitaries, including former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, along with their spouses.

In his inaugural address, President Trump emphasized themes of national unity and strength, stating, "The golden age of America begins right now." He outlined an ambitious agenda for his second term, with a focus on immigration reform and bolstering border security.

Reports indicate that the President plans to issue a series of executive orders in the coming days to initiate a sweeping crackdown on immigration.

Following the ceremony, President Trump and Vice President Vance participated in the traditional inaugural luncheon with congressional leaders, before reviewing the military forces in a pass-in-review ceremony. The day's events concluded with the inaugural parade, which, due to inclement weather, was moved indoors to the Capital One Arena.

As the nation embarks on this new chapter, all eyes will be on the Trump administration's actions in the coming days and weeks, as they begin to implement their policy agenda and navigate the challenges facing the country.
