Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Beginning January 1, 2025, Missouri's minimum wage will rise to $13.75 per hour.
Missouri voters approved Proposition A, earlier this month, which amends Chapter 290 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri to increase the state’s minimum wage. An additional increase to $15.00 per hour will take effect January 1, 2026, followed by annual adjustments tied to the Consumer Price Index. Currently, Missouri’s minimum wage is currently $12.30 per hour, following a series of steady increases since 2015, when the rate was $7.65 per hour. These adjustments stem from Proposition B, approved by voters in 2018, which set a path for annual CPI-based increases, culminating in a scheduled $12.65 per hour minimum wage for 2025 under the previous structure.
Proposition A’s approval reflects voters’ desire to accelerate the rate of increase, surpassing the prior schedule. The changes align Missouri with a growing trend among states adopting higher minimum wages to address the rising cost of living.
The revised rates are expected to impact businesses and workers statewide, as Missouri adjusts to these landmark increases in wage standards.
